REI Garage Sales are a great opportunity to pick-up some gently used items at very low prices. At the REI Grand Junction location there is typically 2-3 rounds of products that the staff puts outside on tables. When you arrive the morning of the sale you will be given a raffle ticket. This ticket will win you freebies, but it is also your ticket into the sale area. The staff will call out numbers 0-9 and if that is the last number of your ticket you are able to go shop. To make it fair for the second round they will call the numbers in opposite order. Once you find the products you want to purchase you take them into the store and purchase them.

MARCH 2013 - REI will be SELLING USED GEAR every SATURDAY through the month of March! No need to arrive early as we will be continuously doling out the goods all day long. Get in here! Not a member? Ask a REI sales specialist about joining when you stop in.

Colorado Columbine Flower

I have lived in Colorado for 3 years and saw my first columbine flower this summer. It is the state flower of Colorado and is also known as the Rocky Mountain Columbine. If you are feeling smart you can call it by its real name, aquilegia saximontana. I had to hike to 10,000 feet to see this rare flower. Have you ever seen one?

P.S. It is illegal to pick a columbine flower on public land.

Did you know that almost every In-N-Out Burger Restaurant has 2 real palm trees out front that form an “X”. They started the crossed palm trees theme in 1972. According to in-n-out.com, “One of founder Harry Snyder’s favorite movies, It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, features characters racing to find treasure buried under four palm trees planted to resemble the letter W. Because each In-N-Out store is Harry’s treasure, a tradition of planting crossed palm trees in front of most In-N-Out locations begins.

Free Workout: Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred

You can no longer use the excuse of not having money for a gym membership or a personal trainer because you can now workout at home. Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred video is a great workout for beginners and intermediate workouts. Her workout requires some equipment:

  • Floor Mat – Instead use a thick blanket
  • Hand Weights – Instead use soup cans, spaghetti sauce jars, or anything else that is easy to grasp.
  • Workout Video – Watch the Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred Video for Free on You Tube

There are 30 levels to the 30 Day Shred. The goal is to do 10 days of each of the 3 videos. Watch the videos here:

Garlic + Stomach

Have you ever experienced a stomach ache after eating garlic?  I took a cooking class in Rome and I learned an interesting fact from my Italian instructor. He said that if you eat the middle green part of garlic that it will make your stomach gurgle and feel unpleasant. So now every time I cook garlic, I always remove the middle sprouting part.
